As an artist, what made you get into art?
As a child I was interested in Art and could draw very well. But a career in Art was not what one “supposed” to do. I had a carreer in Finance. After my first child I became more myself and started to draw again.
What is your favorite thing about art commissions?
I am very interested in other people and I like the direct connection when I have commissions.
What is your favorite piece of artwork? (from someone living)
"When Hope Comes" by Daniel Gerhartz.
What is your favorite piece of artwork? (from someone dead)
"The Duchess of York" by Philip de Laszo.
What do you want people to know about you?
When I started I was very concerned about rendering exactly what I saw. My work was very realistic. I used the glazing technique. Which is very deep and rich but also took a lot of work.
Nowadays I use the alla prima technique which is more energetic and passionate. I am trying to uplift my work to a more poetic kind of painting.
I always use live models, I don’t just paint woman from glossy magazines. I strongly believe everybody is beautiful in their own unique way.
I normally paint on wooden panel. Sometimes when the client ask I use Belgian linen.
