How would your best friend (or someone close to you) describe you using only 3 adjectives?
Quirky, Adventurous, Ambitious
What does a typical day in your life look like?
Up at 5 am; Daily run (usually 8-10 miles); Breakfast on-the-go; work at the local high school from 9 am to 2 pm; then a Dog Walk with a regular dog-walking client; and picking up my son from work; usually followed by a Dog Training or Pet sitting job; then home to make dinner for the family. When I have a spare moment, I'll sit down, pick up my pencil or my paints, and delve into my creative side.
Who inspires you?
My parents are both the greatest light in my life, and the greatest inspiration. My mom passed away 10 years ago from cancer, but she continues to inspire and bless my life through the legacy that she left. My dad is seen by all who know him as "The Giver". He continues to be the most selfless, charitable, amazingly incredible man I have ever met.
What is your favorite quote?
It's a toss-up.
1) "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable."--Helen Keller
2) "The most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."--Pierre De Coubertin, "The Olympic Creed"
What is something you wish you could change about the world?
I wish I could convince the world to cultivate an attitude of happiness. Cultivate a spirit of optimism. Walk with faith, rejoicing in the beauties of nature, in the goodness of those you love, in the testimony which you carry in your heart concerning things divine.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I would say that I have more of a collection of things that make me unique--ultra-distance running (currently training for a 100-mile run), Dog Training, Baking, Cake Decorating, Endurance Horseback Riding (competitive trail racing)
As an artist, what made you get into art?
My love of animals and an overwhelming desire to try to replicate the beauty, therein.
What is your favorite thing about art commissions?
I get to do what I love and create a lasting impression.
What do you want people to know about you?
I have an undying wanderlust and an unquenchable thirst to live life to the very fullest. My life goal is to leave a legacy and make a difference. 50% of all proceeds from my artwork will be donated to Shoe4Africa in an effort to build the first General Pediatric Cancer Center in all of Sub-saharan Africa. Due to my dad's incredible generosity, my family has put in the first half of the money to fund the hospital. In consequence, it is to be named after my mother, who passed away from cancer in 2010. It will be called The Juli Anne Perry Children's Cancer Hospital, and care for all patients will be free of charge. Ground Breaking for the Hospital will be on December 24th in Eldoret, Kenya.
