Barbora - Hyperrealistic Child Portrait | World Art Awards 2nd Place

Subject: Portraits
Medium: Oil paint
Dimensions: 12 x 17 in
Created: 2022

Barbora is an original black-and-white hyperrealistic portrait, painted entirely by hand in oil on paper using the dry brush technique. My portrait work focuses not only on likeness, but on expression, character and the subtle emotional presence of the person portrayed. I pay particular attention to the eyes, facial expression and fine details that make each subject individual. This artwork received 2nd Place in the World Art Awards. I am available for commissioned portraits of children, adults and families, created from high-quality reference photographs. Each portrait is individually painted and created as a one-of-a-kind original artwork.

The commission story

The portrait was created from a reference photograph, with the aim of preserving Barbora’s natural expression, personality, and the sense of wonder in her upward gaze. I focused especially on the eyes, subtle facial expression, skin tones, hair, and the delicate details of her clothing, while keeping the composition soft and timeless.

The outcome

The finished portrait captures not only Barbora’s likeness, but also her character and the gentle, thoughtful mood of the moment. The balance between precise realism and emotional expression is what makes the work especially meaningful. The portrait later received 2nd Place in the World Art Awards.
