How do I set my pricing?

MadeMay uses a net-price-first approach. You tell us what you want to earn, and we calculate the listed price buyers see.

How it works

For each pricing variable in your category, you set a rate. The system adds the MadeMay fee and Stripe processing fee to calculate the listed price.

Example (Marketplace Plan, 15%): You want to receive $1,000 for a project. The listed price shown to buyers would be approximately $1,220. This includes your $1,000, MadeMay's fee (~$183), and Stripe's processing fee (~$37).

Example (Storefront Plan, 2%): You want to receive $1,000 for a project. The listed price shown to buyers would be approximately $1,055. This includes your $1,000, MadeMay's 2% (~$21), and Stripe's processing fee (~$34).

Category-specific pricing variables

Each category has its own set of variables. As a painter, you set rates for: - Base rate per square inch for each medium you offer (oil, acrylic, watercolor) - Surcharge per additional subject - Multiplier for complexity level (simple, moderate, complex, photorealistic) - Flat fee for framing if offered

As a sculptor, your variables are different: material type (bronze costs more than clay), size dimensions, detail level, finish type, and whether a base is included.

Setting your rates

During onboarding, you will see each variable for your category with helper text explaining how it affects pricing. Set your rate for each option you offer. If you do not offer an option (for example, you do not do watercolor), simply skip it. Buyers requesting watercolor will not see you in their results.

For number variables (like size)

Set a minimum and maximum you accept. For example, you might accept painting widths from 8 to 48 inches. A buyer requesting 60 inches would not match with you.

You control your pricing

MadeMay never sets or overrides your prices. You decide what your work is worth. The system simply adds the platform and processing fees on top so the buyer sees the total cost.
