How does pricing work?
Pricing on MadeMay is transparent and personalized. Every artisan sets their own rates, and the price you see is based on your specific project requirements.
How prices are calculated
Each category has variables that affect pricing. For a painting, these include the medium (oil costs more than acrylic), size (larger paintings cost more), subject complexity, and number of subjects. For sculpture, the material matters significantly: marble is more expensive than clay.
When you submit your project details, the system calculates an estimated price from each matched artisan's individual pricing rules. This means you see real prices, not generic ranges.
What is included in the price?
The listed price includes everything: the artisan's fee, MadeMay's platform fee, and payment processing. There are no hidden charges. The price you see is the price you pay.
Can prices change after a project starts?
The agreed price at project start is locked in. If you request significant changes to the brief after milestones have been approved, the artisan may propose an adjusted price, which you would need to agree to before proceeding.
Why is there a $500 minimum?
Custom handmade work requires time, skill, and quality materials. The $500 minimum ensures artisans can dedicate proper attention to every project and that buyers receive premium quality work.
