How to find artisans, start projects, and manage your orders.

How do I start a project?

Select a category, answer a few questions about what you want, and we will show you artisans who match your needs with pricing.

How does pricing work?

Each artisan sets their own prices based on materials, size, complexity, and other factors. You see the full price upfront before committing.

Can I compare artisans?

Yes. When you submit your project details, you will see matched artisans with estimated pricing so you can compare side by side.

How are my payments protected?

MadeMay uses escrow. Your payment is held securely and only released to the artisan as milestones are approved by you.

What are milestones?

Milestones are checkpoints in your project. The artisan shares progress at each stage and you approve before they continue.

Can I request changes?

Yes. At each milestone, you can request revisions. The artisan will adjust their work based on your feedback before proceeding.

What if I am not satisfied?

If the finished piece does not match what was agreed, you can open a dispute and our team will mediate to find a fair resolution.

How does shipping work?

Each artisan handles shipping for their pieces. Shipping scope (local, domestic, international) is listed on their profile.

Can I save artisans for later?

Yes. Create boards and save your favorite artisans to come back to later. Great for planning projects or comparing options.

What is a Project Story?

After a project is completed, a Project Story page is automatically created showing the journey from brief to finished piece.

How do reviews work?

After your project is delivered, you rate the artisan across five categories and leave a written review. First-time reviewers get a reward.

What is the first review reward?

Leave your first review and choose: a $50 Starbucks gift card, $100 in MadeMay credit, or a $50 donation to charity on your behalf.
